CoD: World At War PC Mod Tools Launched
Attention, players of the PC version of Activision's Call of Duty: World at War. Developer Treyarch has let loose the Mod Tools for the game, so you may now start creating new levels for my amusement. The 1.1GB file is now available at FileShack along with several other fine file downloading establishments, and purportedly contains everything you need to start making mods and levels for Call of Duty: World at War. I would download it myself, but I lack both the time and talent needed to make anything more than the default blank map, so I leave up to you folks. More » -

The tiered tournament kicks off this Friday at GameStop locations around the country, featuring one-on-one, single-elimination style rounds. Microsoft Swings Xbox Live Banhammer, Thousands Fall
The forums trolled by Xbox Live subscribers are thick with accounts of bannings today, with what appears to be a broad sweeping set of Live accounts deleted, keeping thousands from accessing online gaming. At this point, we're not sure of the root cause — and neither, does it appear, do those affected — but there is rampant talk in the Xbox Scene forums, at least, about the abuse of pirated copies of games like Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty: World At War. It's all cleaned up "played early" and "back up copy" talk — thinly veiled "I pirated Game X before launch day" — amongst some users. More » -

The Best Shooter This Holiday According To Call of Duty Dev...
Resistance 2? Gears of War 2? Far Cry 2? The best shooter this holiday is Call of Duty: World at War — so say the folks who made it. “There’s a lot of competition this year," says Activision producer Noah Heller, "but I feel very strongly we have the best shooter this Christmas... I’m looking forward to Gears of War, Far Cry and Resistance 2, and I’m sure they will be great games, but I am confident the consumer will come back to Call of Duty.” Well, what do you expect him to say, that they've made the fourth best shooter this Christmas. Be sure to buy the new CoD, it's not as good as the two other big shooters! Fat chance. More » -

GameStop Selling COD: World at War One Day Early?
Still flagging this as rumor, but it sounds like GameStop and Activision might have bargained a deal that allows your neighborhood McGame chain to retail Call of Duty: World at War a day early. PlanetXbox360 says it spoke to a manager (incidentally, the writer's friend, which is why this remains rumor), who verified that at 5 pm on Nov. 10, you can grab it. Not sure how this affects pre-orders but my guess is that's all good too. Unless of course they get swamped an run out, in which case it sucks to be you. For sure this is a reach for buzz and long lines hype, but hey, a day early is a day early. For the rest of us without a GameStop in our existence, the CoD:WaW drops Nov. 11. More » -

Europe Gets A NINTH 360 Bundle, This Time With Call Of Duty
Seven bundles? Oh, Microsoft Europe weren't ever going to stop at "just" seven 360 bundles for the holiday season. We knew that when the eighth one hit. And now definitely know it with the ninth bundle, this time in a Call of Duty flavour. Included in the bundle is a 60GB Pro, a wireless controller and a copy of call of Duty: World At War. Not the most exciting bundle, then, but it's interesting to see an official pack-in of an adults-only game
